There’s a secret place within my yard that no one else has ever found.
Beyond the garden arbor beauty and nature abound.
Past the crooked willow near the water, by the waterfall
There’s a secret I wish to share with all.
Beyond the rainbow full of light exists a wondrous, ethereal sight.
Surrounded by flowers in splendorous beauty and awesome wonder
Newly sprung from winter’s cold slumber.
For when there is a rainbow and butterflies float in splendid ardor
You shall see what only me and they have seen so far.
A magical treasure and perfect world where true love and complete peace are.
Take my hand, be my forever friend,
And together we will see just how marvelous life can be,
If only you will follow me . . . to perfect peace and serenity.
An Ode to the Butterfly

Rainbow colored like my garden, floating high and fancy free,
Fluttering down to alight on a flower, and taste of its tranquility.
I am enchanted by your simplicity, and yet, enthralled with your complexity.
Pollinating blooms is most likely your only purpose,
But your life contains astounding metamorphosis.
One of our Lord’s truly amazing wonders: you are the fairies of enchanted summers.
Iridescent prism hues of color will soon break free of winter’s slumber.
Then, fluttering to my flower fairyland, I will watch,
Sitting on my garden bench, their lovely, fragile flight.
Oh, that I should live so utterly carefree.
Oh, that I could be a joyous, glorious butterfly!
